Budget funds the clean-feed

The Labor budget is out, and - to our dismay - there is enough money in there to be dangerous when it comes to the clean-feed. About $150m is allocated to "cyber-safety", a lot of it for more sensible measures such as education and policing of illegal material. However, there is an ominous chunk of $32.5 million allocated to the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (here and forever more referred to as the DBCDE) that has the right amount and timing (next year) to be pretty worrying.

Conroy is also on record - in a media release - of confirming that the clean-feed is still on the radar. Those of us who hoped calmer heads would prevail in this delicate spending climate have had those hopes dashed. ITWire have a little more information on the subject as well.

Here's the relevant section from the budget itself - see where your tax dollars are being spent. Time to write a missive to the Minister if you haven't already done so!
